Each player will be allowed one 25-second extension during each rack. The shot clock will end when the cue tip strikes the cue ball to initiate a stroke or the when player’s time expires from the shot clock. If the cue ball strikes a stationary billiard ball straight on, then the cue ball will stop moving after the collision. To do this, each player gets a ball of equal size and weight, preferably two cue balls but two solids or stripes will work too. 7. There is a substantial range in the size and significance of Tournaments. The WPA itself, its members the CFs and their members the NFs, all organise or host Tournaments. 14. CFs and NFs cannot charge a fee to a Tournament Organiser in respect of a WPA Sanctioned Tournament. 26. The Tournament Organiser must pay the sanction fee within 14 days of the invoice being issued. 16. The WPA Board has the right to sanction a Tournament in any country. 29. The WPA Board may choose to sanction any Tournament at any time on such terms and conditions as it chooses to impose.

30. A Tournament may be sanctioned by the WPA Board retrospectively. For example, it may be required to drive three balls above the head string or pocket them. Actually, in a detailed manner, people mainly make billiard balls with phenolic resin, polyester resin, and epoxy resin. In general, no other materials are suitable than phenolic resin and polyester resin for making billiard balls. As stated in Rule 2.2, balls other than the one and nine are placed randomly in the rack and should not be set in any particular order during any rack. A snooker ball set consists of twenty-two unmarked balls: fifteen reds, six colour balls, and one white cue ball. The objective of a billiards game is to score a fixed amount of points, or to score the highest number of points within a set time limit that is agreed upon at the beginning of the game. 8. Only WPA Sanctioned Tournaments are eligible for World Ranking Points. To Play Pool, players win points by shooting balls into the table’s pockets. Balls should be cleaned with a towel or cloth free of dirt and dust, and may also be washed with soap and water. 28. If the sanctioning fee is not paid within 14 days, then the approval of the Tournament may be suspended or cancelled by the decision of the Sports Director.

If approval is not granted clause 16 above may apply. The seated player may remind the referee that such a call is necessary. The referee should ensure that interference is prevented, for example by a spectator or a player on an adjacent table, what is billiards and may suspend play as needed. The cue tip may not be of a material that can scratch or damage the addressed ball. A push shot is when the cue remains in contact with the ball longer than the brief moment needed to hit it. The wooden triangular ball rack is the recommended device to be used to rack the balls to ensure that the balls are properly aligned and in contact with each other. See the diagram below for how to rack billiard balls. Both surfaces that can make contact with the table-cloth when moving loaded rack to and fro, should be very smooth in order not to incur any damage to the cloth underneath.

The three point rule must be present on all WPA ranking 9-ball events, together with tapping or ball rack. The cue tip on any stick must be composed of a piece of specially processed leather or other fibrous or pliable material that extends the natural line of the shaft end of the cue and contacts the cue ball when the shot is executed.. The stick or handle of the mechanical bridge is very similar in shape to the cue stick. The contour of the bridge head should be smooth in order not to mar the cue shaft or rip the threads of the table-cloth when being used. We have mentioned that you will need nine to 15 pool balls, along with the white cue ball. Table cushions should influence the speed of the table such that with placement of a ball on the head spot, shooting through the foot spot, using center ball english, with a level cue and firm stroke, the ball must travel a minimum of 4 to 4 ½ lengths of the table without jumping. Any nameplates and score counters should be flush level with rail top.
