Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key was developed in collaboration with an unidentified artist, and based on cutting-edge carbon fiber composite materials, which were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a project that has been revealed by Lamborghini.

The physical component of the Space Key

The "collectors' piece" was developed in collaboration with NFTPRO(tm) and is limited to just five units. It is scheduled to be auctioned in the near future.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth, the block was inscribed with a QR codes that link to the digital element of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs a few seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. More than 600 million pixels make up each of the five images which were shot by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner utilized an inflatable camera equipped with a lens to capture the individual images, which were then put together into the final image. The result is an out of this world photo that captures the beauty of the Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic view of the car erupting from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there isn't a specific date or location yet.

The auction

Each will be sold by itself and the winner will receive an original digital art work designed by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different moments the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
