UPVC Replacement Door double glazing window handles

The handles on your doors are worn out over time and need to be replaced. It is essential to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a modern handle that can be installed on replacement or new doors. This kind of door handle is available in a wide range of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are ideal for multi point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and work from the same spindle and screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be positioned and angled to fit any user. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is situated further away from the door. A shorter lever can be used for doors with latches that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles commonly found on doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC double glazed window handles glazed doors. They come in many variations & finishes.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles are supplied with a spindle and screws which allow them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm permit a bigger size handle that is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement may also be referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

Once you have decided on the correct PZ size, you will need to ensure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are typically square or round with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position when they are not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder case that will reveal pins that can be aligned with those in the lock body and allowing them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with external and internal doors usually requiring different levels of security.

Choosing the right cylinder is crucial; it is contingent on the way your doors and handle are used. External doors, for example should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure and doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that increase security further, such as anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder needs to be properly measured to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. It is crucial to avoid having a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most modern cylinders are made with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This helps prevent attacks and ensure your doors are secure.

Certain cylinders are constructed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and less difficult than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a break-in, which can hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their resting position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple part is the best solution to fix this problem. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position as they are difficult to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint lock. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have a square cut-out that accommodates an 8mm spindle and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the issue of door handles that are sagging. They are easy to fit and will extend the life span of your uPVC doors.
