We are serving teriyaki plates and bowls, ramen and sushi in Kearny Mesa, Convoy area. The strangest thing about the special is that it comes with an overly large portion of fries. Who knew sushi and fries could ever share a plate?
We have been eating here for years... Food has been good and sometimes not good. The last time we went we were charged $4.50 extra for chicken breast instead of thigh.
Definitely coming back to try their other dishes, especially the tempura platter and the noodles. It's really a good spot for a variety of food options. This restaurant is a favorite spot for both locals and visitors seeking hearty portions and a casual atmosphere for dining. Finally, we ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl. The teriyaki sauce had a nice balance of sweet and savory. The chicken was cooked well and not too dry. The service is quick and the staff is friendly, which is always a plus. Katsu Cafe offers customers even more savings with a happy hour 3 p.m.
This Japanese style restaurant offers a variety of Japanese dishes from ramen to sushi to teriyaki. Their lunch specials are outstanding, especially on Wednesdays. The restaurant was clean, welcoming and bright. This is a solid place for informal lunch or dinner. Select between indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere of hospitality of Katsu Cafe highly depends on the staff, that is courteous here.
Service at this place is something one can name fast. From the visitors' viewpoint, prices are low. You will appreciate the spectacular decor and exotic atmosphere of this spot. The roll itself is nothing special, but for being fried it’s not overwhelming. Although Katsu offers sushi, the menu is not as comprehensive as the rest of the options. Sushi seems to be in a relatively smaller demand by the restaurant’s customers. To ensure everyone can enjoy our authentic Japanese pastries and bread, we may limit 4 items per person on busy days. This ensures fairness and allows more customers to experience our Japanese bakery delights in San Diego.
For a $8.95 teriyaki chicken bowl, $4.50 extra is ridiculous. I think before it was $1.50 extra. I feel like $13.45 for a small chicken bowl is high. This place is showing its age and needs to be renovated and cleaned up.
There was a line at the cashier but it moved quickly. Plenty of seating available and the decor was homey-Hawaiian style.We ordered the katsu curry plates. Rice was Japanese, mac salad was pretty good. I got the tonkatsu which was juicy and tender.

Since my daughter loves noodles, Jorgina ordered her their Udon bowl. It was pretty simple, but had a nice broth that wasn’t too salty like many places. The noodles were cooked al dente which was a nice surprise.
